Adedapo Paul Akintunde, the Managing Director of Ivixi Design Movement Ltd., studied Architecture at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), graduating with distinction in his final year design studio presentation. While there, he was also known for his artistic talent and went on to study Vehicle Design at the Royal College of Arts, London, graduating in 1994. His schoolmates included renowned British/Ghanaian architect David Adjaye and Turner Prize-winning painter Chris Ofili. After studying car designing and working in the UK for some time, he returned to Nigeria and to architecture, rising to become the Group Creative Design Director of Design Union Consulting and a director of several other architectural establishments. With a MA(RCA) in 1994, Dapo Akintunde became the
first ever Sub Saharan Black African to be awarded
a Master's Degree in Vehicle Design.His degree Show
project was a study into Car design in West Africa,
and Dapo Akintunde became the first Nigerian to
design a 100% Nigerian Car Prototype in 2018.
From being an architectural assistant at John Taylor
and Associates, London, to having his own
Architecture practice in Lagos, IVIXI design,
Dapo Akintunde is a fully registered
Architect in Nigeria, and has mainly been
commissioned to design high end residences
for discerning clients, winning two
architectural competitions.
Dapo Akintunde has extensive experience
in retail design working with the Arcadia
group, where he was responsible for the
design of all the windows displays for
Bluewater shops and various other jobs.
In Nigeria, he has designed retail interiors
for telecoms companies and retail fixtures
for PZ, Guinness amongst others.
Dapo Akintunde's directing started at
Kleenkut Ltd, directing exhibition design
utilising their carpenters and other
tradesmen, through to the creative direction
of their graphic design, which led to being
the first creative director of the Nigerian
advertising agency, 3S Dali.
Dapo has given short course lectures on Film animation
and media, at the Lagos Business School: Taught drawing
at the art and design centre, Croydon: Spoken at seminars
and has given a lecture on concept development at the
university of Lagos, and currently lectures on design
at Semicolon, Lagos...
From his training as a vehicle Designer, and his professional
work in retail design Dapo has extensive experience in
branding and design for high street retail brands,
telecommunications and other brand applications, and in
Lagoshas designed brand experience environments
and items for a myriad of high street brands
including Guinness, Virgin Nigeria, Starcomms
and many other companies.
Dapo Akintunde graduated from the London metropolitan film
school's short course on film Directing, the BBC's short course
on directing and editing, and was the promo director for the
NOW channels _Rhythm of Now_ channel branding promo.
His natural gift for visualisation has resulted in extensive
experience of set design, storyboarding and script writing.
He was director on the 2006 short, Natty on the Run which
was screened at the Mall to a rapturous audience...

by Design_ in October, 2010, and since then has written
several articles on social media. The book is a staple
amongst university students in Lagos who are interested
in the development of the country utilising design and
